Business Card Design for a Backend Developer

When Mr. Evaristus, a backend developer based in Lagos, reached out to me, he needed something simple: “I want a business card that clearly shows what I do, nothing too extra, just something clean and professional.”

That was the starting point of this project.
As a backend developer, Evaristus works behind the scenes with tools like Python and JavaScript to build the logic and structure of websites and software. But in person and online, he needed a simple way to introduce himself — a card he could hand over that would leave a solid first impression.

What the Client Needed

  • A professional identity as a software engineer

  • A clear list of services (chatbots, backend, Python, etc.)

  • A design that’s not too flashy, but still modern

  • Contact info that’s easy to read and use

My Approach

I started by understanding the most important things to highlight:

  • His name and title

  • His services — many clients may not understand what “backend developer” means, so we broke it down

  • His contact details and website, placed where they won’t be missed

From there, I designed a layout that keeps the card clean, readable, and visually structured.

Design Highlights:

  • Dark background with star patterns to add a subtle creative touch

  • Color contrast for easy readability (white text on a deep background)

  • Clear fonts — no fancy or hard-to-read styles

  • Icons and website links added for a modern, tech-aware look

I also corrected a small spelling issue in “Python” to ensure the final version was accurate and professional.

The Final Result

The finished card reflects what Mr. Evaristus brings to the table:

  • A calm, clear presence

  • Strong backend skills

  • A reliable tech expert who values simplicity and clarity

He now has a business card that:

  • Shows his services at a glance

  • Makes him easy to contact

  • Feels like him — no overdesign, just clean and effective

Lessons from This Project

  • Simplicity works — especially for tech professionals

  • A card doesn’t need to be complex to be memorable

  • Details like font choice, spacing, and service wording matter more than people think

This was a straightforward design job, but it reminded me that even the smallest piece of branding, such as a business card, can help someone present themselves more confidently and professionally.

Whether you’re a developer, writer, or coach, if you offer a service, you deserve branding that makes your work easy to understand and trust.
